SPORT CAMP AT OKROGLO, SLOVENIA
As part of the project, the Union of Blind and Partially sigheted of Slovenia held a sports camp between 26th and 28th of August 2022 at Okroglo, Slovenia.
The main goal of the camp was to familiarize the participants with various sports and activities, to get to know each other, establishing trust and mutual understanding.
The purpose of the camp was also to empower the participants to engage in physical activity.
At the same time, the sailing instructors also got an insight into the blindness and gained practical experience.
Several activities took place in a two-day sports camp: Participants competed against other teams in Games without Borders (team sports games) as well as in darts tournament and football.
There were also other activities such as First aid training that included Basic CPR procedures and injury care.
This was followed by a presentation of archery with basics of how to hold the bow and where to place the arrow, then everyone could try shooting at a target.
The sailing instructors also had a refresher course in how to guide blind persons.
At the evening sighted participants took part in the dinner in the dark, where they were blindfolded and tried to eat without visual help.
The sports camp at the Okroglo ended on Sunday 28th of August with announcement of results.
All team members received practical prizes.
Also a special award for given for the “most beautiful” white cane.
