FairPlay Massimo Bertoni Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica (FAirplay) was born in 2008 from the meeting of several professionals in the field of sport. The main goal was to develop a "sports school" for children and adults based on multidisciplinarity. Being aware of how sports can help in the educational and interpersonal fields, while strengthening one's character (especially in children), since 2009 FairPlay has been using sports as therapeutic activity for people with disabilities and disadvantaged groups. Fairplay is a team of ski and snowboard instructors, sailing and windsurfing instructors, swimming instructors, Motorcycle driving instructors, sports science graduates, all specialized in children and disabilities. FairPlay has organised many projects for children and adults with disabilities in collaboration with private and public organisations, with the local hospital Burlo, with the local healthcare company ASUGI and many others. Some examples of their work in the last decade include Integration of children with the Down syndrome and children with ADHD into the summer camp, rehabilitation of early school leavers, sailing course for people with mental illnesses, sailing course for children coming from families with difficult psychosocial conditions - orphans, children of immigrant. ASD Fairplay is the leading partner of the Project.
SeaYou is a branch of the Amatersko športno društvo - Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Grmada, which is an amateur sports association that has been operating in Trieste (Italy) since 1986 and brings together people who love outdoor sports activities. The main field of activity are outdoor sports, mainly caving, climbing, sailing, mountaineering, stand-up-paddle boarding and scuba diving. The association runs courses for beginners and organizes many summer activities for children. The association often collaborates with other associations and primary schools in the area. In the last 20 years hundreds of children have been involved in their outdoor activities. Among the main activities is also sailing on monohulls. In recent years, the association has started to organize regular sailing trips in the Bay of Trieste with the desire to bring this sport closer to as many people as possible, believing that sailing is a sport for everyone and not just for those who can afford their own sailboat. Anyone who joins the association can take part and learn the basics of this sport. In this Project, SeaYou is responsible for the Communication and Dissemination.
Zveza društev slepih in slabovidnih Slovenije ZDSSS (Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted of Slovenia UBPSS) is an independent, non-government and non-profit disability organization and it is the umbrella organisation for nine regional associations of Blind and Partially Sighted in Slovenia with around 4000 members. It has been serving blind and partially sighted people since 1920. The main aims of the organisation are to promote the rights and interests of People with Sight Loss and to provide information, different services and activities on the national level and support to meet the special needs in their daily lives and work. The programmes provide activities in the field of accessible information, newspapers, library service and adapting books in accessible formats, as well as providing technical aids, network of sighted guides for blind, activities for improving health and quality of life, activities and camps for children, youth, their siblings and parents, blind and partially sighted parents, women, elderly, relatives, as well as organising sports, chess and cultural activities. Furthermore, ZDSSS provides training and courses for the Visually Impaired, their relatives and volunteers. ZDSSS strives to improve educational and employment opportunities, social and health care and to encourage Blind and Partially Sighted people to take an active role in the decision-making process and enable them to live a full and independent life. For many years ZDSSS has been providing different accessibility awareness training courses and workshops for different target groups (teachers, health care officers and workers, employers, social workers etc.). These courses and workshops offer flexible, accessible learning and increase knowledge and boost confidence of participants through practical skills which they put to use immediately. This can be delivered in a classroom setting or virtually, using virtual tools (such as ZOOM etc.). On the other hand, together with regional associations, ZDSSS provides different sport activities, which are either adopted for Blind and Partially Sighted or they are specially tailored for them. Because of its long experience the ZDSSS will be the coordinator of the Sport activities (other than sailing) for visually impaired people.
Navtično društvo Mornik is a sailing organization born in year 2007 in Slovenia. Is composed of professional and recreative sailors on monohulls. The main activity is sailing on monohulls and taking part in regattas in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. In addition to sailing trips and courses they organise many educational activities - events, speeches, trips for the public with the goal of promoting the sport of Sailing in Slovenia. The organization is very active in the organization of sailing trips, sailing schools and courses for all ages. Mornik includes many professional skippers and sailing coaches who will run the sailing school on monohulls including the preparation for the regatta Barcolana at the end.
Jadralna zveza Slovenije - The Slovenian Sailing Federation is the associated partner of the project by supporting the LETS project with promotion activities.
The project partners are also supported by ANIOMAP (Italian association of instructors for a personal autonomous mobility), operating on a national level and with whom the methodology was developed in close collaboration.
